Winter Weather!

This is what winter is all about! So far Big Bear has been in the same boat as the rest of Southern California...lots of rain. But it looks like the system moving through today might bring us the type of precipitation we're looking for...

"Cloudy with increasingly gusty winds and progressively colder temperatures. Isolated thunderstorms are expected, with very heavy bursts of snow possible. Snow continunes heavy, with snow levels dropping to 5,000 feet (lower under any thudnerstorms). Areas of blowing and drifting snow are expected. Snow showers are expected to end overnight. 10 to 14 inches of additional snowfall expected"

Be prepared for winter weather in the mountains. Always carry chains in your vehicle and check the latest road conditions before heading up the mountain!

Currently Hwy 330 to Hwy 18 from San Bernardino IS CLOSED. The best way to travel up the mountain during winter conditions is the back way through Lucerne Valley. This way typically sees the least severe weather and is the shortest "mountain" drive.

Hwy 18 From Lucerne Valley to Big Bear is the best road in Winter Conditions

  1. Me, my family and another family are gonna head up to Big Bear for a few days from January 7th-9th. Hopefully, there'll be some white stuff up when we get there. :)
